You have no excuse to be stupid! I mean it. There is no excuse for not being able to read. People risked their lives to learn to read in ages past and now young people piss away the free and open education available to them. Why can’t young people read at grade level?
Children going to school in mud huts learn to read and do math and for all the money we throw at education, our kids are getting dumber and dumber. Reading is what expands your world. Reading and thinking for yourself protects you from those that would destroy you, control you, chain you. If you can read, there is hardly anything that you cannot learn to do.
Schools are good if you use them to learn and exercise some critical thinking. Life is a great teacher. I heard someone say recently, “School gives you a lesson and then you get the test. Life gives you the test and then you receive the lesson.” With the internet and the growing use of AI, a person can get a great education for free. It makes me wonder if college and universities are really required for most jobs. If you are curious and ambitious, you can go far.
